17. IONON Card and Membership Utility
The card program can make IONON useful before large-scale network migration, but its economics must be designed so ordinary spending does not become forced IONON sell pressure.
The preferred model is:
IONON balance/lock → membership and permissions → card access → USD/USDC/stable settlement → merchant.
The Founder design studied in this project uses three physical tiers — CORE, EVOLVE, LEGEND — with indicative founder thresholds of 10,000 / 50,000 / 100,000 IONON. Those fixed token amounts are suitable for a limited Genesis cohort, not necessarily permanent retail pricing. Later tiers should be periodically calibrated to an economic-value band or subscription/relationship score so a rising or falling IONON price does not make membership irrational.
Virtual cards should be the low-friction acquisition layer; high-end physical and metal cards should be scarce status products. Reward percentages must be capped and funded by real revenue, merchant promotions or a declared marketing budget rather than indefinite token emissions.
The card issuer/program manager remains a critical dependency. Before public promises, IONON must document issuer/BIN sponsor, network, KYC/CIP, AML/sanctions, settlement assets, prefunding, fraud/chargeback responsibility, Apple/Google Pay, spend controls, MCC controls, FX/ATM fees, data portability and termination rights.
